India only lady police officer whose name is enough to scare criminal off. Her achievements as a police officer have been invariably marred by controversy, whether her stint with Delhi police or during outstation postings.

As an IG Tihar jail, KB is known to overhaul the administration’s outlook towards prisoners. She opened yoga and meditation centre, succeeded in opening centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University and National Open School and set up de-addiction centre.

Her services received international recognition when she was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award.

KB was embroiled in further controversy when she left her post as IG, Chandigarh, & came to Delhi after an argument with superiors.

Insubordination is perhaps the biggest reason why she wasn’t made Delhi’s top cop.

But for me she is one of the greatest personalities I admire.
